A Muslim man in Switzerland has been fined 210 Swiss Francs last year in May for saying “Allah Akbar” in public when he met his friend. The man who is 22 years old named as Orhan E according to Swiss Media said Allahu Akbar which means “God is greatest” in Arabic.
Police feared a terror attack in Schaffhausen and thus stopped the man and charge him with 210 Swiss Francs for causing a public nuisance. Police defended their actions by saying that they would have reacted in the same manner if they would have seen reported local news paper Schaffhauser Nachrichten.
Orhan said he was surprised as he He was searched by the police with armed weapons on saying Allahu Akbar. After 20 minutes Suddenly the police officer called me over, and she asked what I meant by that phrase.’
Orhan explained the police officers that We use “Allahu Akbar” as a greeting and almost in every other sentence. He further said that he was threatened with prison if he did not pay the fine. He said he is born and brought up here but never seen or experienced anything like this ever
Orhan was given a fine of 150 Swiss francs and also was told to pay more 60 in the cost of which total comes to 210 Swiss francs.
Police spokesperson said ” At the time there was a possibility that people could be scared and terrified.” Another policemen said Orhan was fined because of the expression he had used. The policemen had to examine the situation because of the phrase’s connecting to terror attacks in recent years..
Further to this, The police spokesperson said ‘If someone’s running around the square swearing, we’ll bring them under control then too,’ they said.
